Bio
James Dean paints realistic watercolors of the American scene - from the unchanging landscape of the New England coast, to the space launches in Florida, to the Shuttle landings in the California desert, to the churches of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
He is a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River where he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1989. He is a graduate of Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The Swain School is now part of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
He is the former Curator of Art at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air & Space Museum, and the former Director, Fine Art Program, NASA Headquarters, Washington, DC.
He resides in Washington, DC with his high school sweetheart, Rita.
